There are four elementary schools (Beethoven, Broadway, Coeur d'Alene, and Westminster), one junior high school (Mark Twain) and one high school (Venice). Venice boasts a beautiful new library, located on Venice Boulevard at Ocean Avenue. The Friends of the Library host a number of programs throughout the year for children and adults. The James Collins Youth Center ... home of the Boys and Girls Club of Venice ... has just completed a 4.6 million dollar facility.   The Vera Davis McClendon Family and Youth Center houses seven non-profit organizations which offer a variety of educational and social services to the Venice community (youth through seniors) free of charge ... educational programs include computers, the arts, citizenship, social issues ... just to name a few. Beyond Baroque ... one of Venice's historic buildings ... is now a literary arts center. The center has a book store which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 - 6 pm. They also have a schedule of poetry readings, creative writing workshops, and performances that are open to the public.   SPARC (Social and Public Art Resource Center) is a community-based non-profit arts organization dedicated to producing, presenting and preserving public artworks that reflect the lives and concerns of our diverse ethnic population, women, working people, youth and the elderly. SPARC works are a collaboration between artists and local residents, resulting in art which arises from within the community rather than being imposed upon it.   Penmar Park Recreation Center offers senior programs and is a popular meeting place for community events. The grounds of the surrounding park include lighted baseball/softball field, tennis courts, 9 hole golf course.
